She may have been to the BVI for numerous festivals, but every time she hits the stage on Tortola, soca queen Destra always manages to give a lively performance and this year it was no different.
The Trinidad and Tobago singer took the stage around 4:15 am this morning, August 4, following three hard hitting reggae stars during the international reggae show at the Claudette 'Boopie' Smith Festiville.

The show had to be stopped once due to heavy rains, but it did not deter patrons from waiting until they got a sample of their international acts.
Around 12:00 am during local artiste Shine-I's performance, the rain came down forcing persons to seek shelter in nearby booths for over an hour.
Following the rains, around 1:20 am, the show continued with reggae and dancehall legend, Barrington Levy who did not disappoint. He took the audience down memory lane by dishing out several of his hits including 'Be Strong', 'Work', 'Black Roses', 'Murderer', 'Broader Than/Here I Come', 'Living Dangerously' and 'Too Experienced', among many others.
Levy, who has been in the music industry for some 30 years, showed that he still has his moves and was able to encourage the crowd to sing along with him throughout his performance.
He briefly mentioned, "Music is changing to some negativity."
His performance was followed by Jamaican reggae musician, Junior Reid, best known for the song 'One Blood'.
Reid was followed by Jamaica's young and rising reggae singing sensation, Christopher Martin, who delivered on his promise made to BVI Platinum News earlier in the day to make a good first impression in the BVI.
Martin, who arrived on stage at 3:15 am, especially targeted the ladies during an interactive and upbeat performance of several of his songs including, 'Take My Wings', 'Giving It', 'I'll Be Your Driver' and 'Paper Loving'.
The singer, who held onto the attention of the females, also sang his recently released single 'Chill Spot'.

Then it was time for the song everyone was waiting for, 'Cheaters' Prayer', but before he sang that, Martin gave a teaser when he sang some oldies from Percy Sledge and Marvin Gaye.
The singer, who at one point went topless, delivered the hit 'Cheaters' Prayer' well to the anxiously awaiting crowd.
During his performance, regional artiste Laza Morgan also made a surprise appearance and sang his hit 'This Girl' and the popular 'One By One' which features Mavado.
Destra, who ended the night's performances this morning, unlike previous years did not bring any dancers which she said was in an attempt to see the dancing skills of the women in Tortola.
The soca artiste held a mini-competition between men and women and then she took on the man who won to the music of Mr. Vegas's 'Bruk It Down'.
Tonight, patrons will be treated to a night of soca with performances from Shurwayne Winchester, Benjai, Skinny Fabulous, Tino and Showtime Band. Also taking the stage will be Kassav, a Francophone zouk band formed in Paris in 1979.
