The vaccine that your baby received does not usually cause the symptoms that you have described. There are several factors that may be contributing to your baby’s health. If she’s going to a daycare then she might be exposed to other children with viral illnesses... more
It seems as if my son (toddler 2yrs) always has an ear infection approximately 2-4 times a year. What causes the infections? & can something be done to reduce or prevent it?
Many children will have several ear infections before their 3rd birthday. If your son gets frequent colds then it would not be unusual for him to get recurrent ear infections. There is a communication between the middle ear and the throat, this is called the Eustachian tube and... more
What can I use to treat heat rash on my baby's back?
Heat rash or “prickly heat” is due to blockage of the sweat glands and is quite common in babies. It will disappear on its own without the application of creams or lotions. Keeping your baby’s skin as cool as possible will prevent and alleviate this problem. Do not overdress... more

Thanks for your response in advance.
It is important to state that the immunologic system is immature in very young children and it improves over time. It is therefore not unusual for a normal child to have 6-8 viral illnesses per year, especially coughs and colds, in the first 3 years. Those numbers may even be... more
What are your stance on vaccinations? My son is due for his 18month shots but I am skeptical to continue vaccines because of their link to Autism and other related disorders. I have a cousin who stopped talking and developed speech disorders after his 18month shots and now has... more
I'm a firm believer in the administration of vaccines for vaccine - preventable diseases. Your statement about vaccines being linked to autism and other related disorders, is completely unfounded. There may be anecdotal scenarios reported in the press, but there is... more

There are services available for children with disabilities, here on the BVI. However, I would suggest that you get in touch with the governmental department of Social Services for further detailed information.
Thank you for your question.

I have three questions:-
1. Is the liquid formula better than powdered formula?
2. What age can I give my bay Glucose water (she spits up and has gas and I'm thinking of giving her some)?
3.Can I use Oilatum soap on my daughters skin she is a 1 month old.
1. There is no difference in the nutritional value of powdered or liquid formulae. The main differences include the price and convenience. Liquid formulae are usually sterile, more convenient and more expensive than their powdered counterparts. Some babies develop a... more
My two year old is having the same problem, he grind his teeth at night, however it started recently. A couple of month ago he was tested for worm and the results came clean. I am really concern because he also lost his appetite, and don't want anything else but milk. What can I do?... more
As I mentioned before, worms may be associated with teeth grinding, but there are other causes. Is there any source of stress at home or daycare? He may be anemic or not drinking enough water during the day. Although he had a negative stool test it doesn't necessarily... more
If your son is small and grinds his teeth there may or may not be a connection. Many children grind their teeth simply as a habit. However; occasionally they may also have worms that cause the grinding, usually at nights. His stool should be tested for worms. Parasites can... more
Your daughter may be passing urine more frequently than usual because of a variety of reasons. There may be other associated factors that will give a clue to the underlying problem. If she is scratching behind her ears, she may have a rash or other irritant in that area. Discourage her... more
